Recycling at A.C. Stelle
Mixed paper and plastics
Thanks to the concerted efforts of Karl Beutel, Science Department Chair, we have mixed medium recycling dumpsters for paper, cardboard, and plastics. It is the responsibility of assigned students to empty the classroom receptacles in the dumpster. Students are expected to recycle their bottles and cans at lunchtime.
Battery recycling
There is a battery recycling station in the Attendance Office.
Eyeglasses recycling
There is a box for used eyeglasses in the Attendance Office.
Printer cartridge recycling
We are excited to announce A.C. Stelle Middle School's printer cartridge recycling program. Empty printer cartridges can be recycled and reused many times. They can also be a way of earning additional funds for your school. Every year over 300 million cartridges end-up in over crowded landfills. Approximately 90% of these printer cartridges are recyclable but only 20% are being recycled. The success of recycling and waste reduction initiatives is one area where we can actually improve the well-being of our environment. Start by saving your own empty cartridges and by asking your friends and colleagues to do the same. Let everyone know about the school's recycling program and how important it is for the environment.
Please bring all your empty printer cartridges to the main office. You will see a cartridge recycling bin where you can drop-off your empty printer cartridges for recycling. Every cartridge you bring in helps our recycling efforts and generates additional funds towards school-based initiatives. Please use the original packaging to protect the cartridges for recycling. Inkjet and laser toner cartridges can be packed in the original boxes. If the original boxes are not available, bubble-wrap, a plastic bag, or other packing material should be used to protect the cartridges.
